A music theater experience that animates a Black man’s resilience against America’s legacy of oppression. The Black Clown is a music theater experience that animates a Black man’s resilience against America’s legacy of oppression. Featuring Davóne Tines (Crossing, Run AMOC! Festival at A.R.T.) in the title role leading a chorus of twelve, and a new score by Michael Schachter, this production fuses vaudeville, opera, jazz, and spirituals to bring Hughes’ verse to life onstage.
